8 Things To Do When You Have No Idea What To Do

By

1. Have a monumental mid-life-crisis-esque FREAK OUT.

Acknowledge the FEAR that is coursing through you. Remember that fear can be a good thing. It forces us to be courageous and step outside of that restricting fluffy-filled comfort zone we’ve allowed ourselves to be trapped in for far too long.

2. Vent to your loved ones.

Let it all spill out. They won’t judge you, I promise. All they want to know before they leave this world, is that you are happy in the choices you have made, and the paths you have travelled down. As they say, a problem shared is a problem halved.

3. Quit your job.

Because you realize that every beautiful new day spent in that claustrophobic soul destroying hell-hole is a day wasted. And you just cannot afford to be careless with your days. None of us can.

4. Try something completely brand-spanking new.

You’ve lost your spark and you need to shake things up in order to get it back. Change won’t happen if you don’t make a change. What did you used to get super excited about as a kid? Skipping? Doodling? Making mini pizzas with questionable toppings? Re-visit the good times and bring them back! You’re never too old.

5. Empty your bank account on a year-long trip abroad.

Plenty of people have found purpose through globe-trotting and reveling in diverse cultures and new experiences, so why not you, and why not now? This could be the adventure of a lifetime. Who knows what might be just around the corner? The only things we regret at the end of our lives are the things we didn’t do. The chances we didn’t take.

6. RELAX.

The fact that you’re so obviously concerned about where you’re headed, is exactly where you need to start. So high fives on getting yourself to this point. You give a shit about your life, and it’s cool to give a shit about that.

7. Embrace the feeling of uncertainty.

What could possibly be more thrilling than not knowing where on this earth you’ll be, what you’ll be doing, or who you’ll be with, in a month’s time? It’s okay to not have your whole life mapped out right now. And guess what? Those people around you who look like they’ve got it all figured out are just better actors than you and me.

8. Know that this, right here, could be the beginning of something incredible.

It’s all up to you now. Take control of your life, and own your decisions. It’s ok to make mistakes. Make as many as you want, as long as you take away a valuable lesson each time. This is how you will grow and become the person you were always meant to be. And that is all any of us is ever really searching for.
