Every time someone complains about the lack of “strong female characters” on TV, it’s all you can do not to shake them and be like “But look at Linden!! Why aren’t you watching Linden?? She is all the ‘strong, complex female character’ anyone could ever ask for.”
Why is she blonde, they asked? Orientals or Asians don’t look good with orange hair, they said. She’s beautiful, but would look better if she was more natural, they added.
After all, it wasn’t as if you love him already. You’re just considering the prospect of falling in love with him in the future. It was a lovely dream. Now, it couldn’t be anything more.
These people either intentionally or unintentionally try to let others know how amazing their lives are by covering it up with some form of self-deprecation.
“Can’t we be together without being together?” was my standard line. “Why does everyone need to know about our private life?”, and “Let’s just be casual” was working as excuses for each non-relationship I ever had. I was a human yo-yo.
Later, he sends me a Snapchat with a picture of himself frowning saying. “Sorry it wasn’t working.”

When did “dating” become “hanging out”? The concept has more or less ruined the last remaining crumbs of true courtship for us singletons. But pull these moves next time someone tries to “hang,” and you’ll come out on top.
