Love Is Accepting That It Can And Will Be Messy

“And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are all noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.”  — John Keating, Dead Poets Society

Could we possibly know love, if we jump into it for fear that we’ll lose it before it’s even ours to have?

How could we possibly know love, if we run from it at the very moment that it starts to reveal itself to us?

Love and fear cannot exist within the same sphere. It isn’t ours to have. Nor is it ours to control, or command.

Love is abandoning the need for control. It’s being bare, naked with someone, and trusting that they will take to your scars with loving hands.

Love is seeing clearly, without projecting your own image onto their canvas.

Love is being the cup when you so desperately want to be the water. Love is letting them be the cup sometimes, too.

Love is wholeness.

Love is knowing that lack is simply a product of the mind, not the soul.

Love is the absence of fear; and the knowledge that the reverse is true, too.

Love is “I’m sorry” when you just know you’re right.

Love is a “thank you” for even the simplest of acts.

Love is transparency. Love is God’s love reflected in you.

Love is unobscured intention.

Love is unobstructed vision.

Love is embracing imperfection – yours and theirs, respectively.

Love is Loving them anyways.

Love is accepting that it can and will be messy.

Love is Butterflies and Rhinos, Giraffes and Parrots, it’s the whole forest, the whole zoo.

Love is 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, exemplified.

Love is recognition.

I have learned that in order to experience it fully, in order for Love to penetrate every cell in our bodies, we must know the above to already be true.

Love is not something to be learned, rather, something to be recalled. TC mark
