How To Become The Embodied Slut

By

You can recognize the embodied slut by the way she walks. She is soft and sensuous in her actions, poised and calm. Intentionally directing or not directing her energy as she pleases.

She owns and calls forward her own luminous energy and lives a liberating life. She has found fulfillment in her own body and unlocked a world that is uniquely her own. When you step into this space, you are no longer operating by the standards of society. Although you certainly may abide by the legal constructs, you’ve found a soft space in which you are free to make the ordinary sacred and your life a work of art.

I want to chat about this concept of embodiment and sluttiness. I have been both an embodied slut. And also simply embodied. And just a slut.

But I know from my own life, and the women I have interviewed about sex, that the best sluttiness is embodied in our being. From this place, we are operating from our core and our entire being radiates with softness, love, and delight.

This is embodied sluttiness.

So, how are we to step into this sexual and sensual space which offers pleasure beyond the ordinary domain?

We start with constructs.

Ask yourself what positive associations do you have with the following words:

  • Woman.
  • Slut
  • Feminine

And then ask yourself what negative associations do you have with the following words:

  • Woman.
  • Slut
  • Feminine

This will reveal so much to you.

Do you view sluts differently? How so?

What about ‘woman’ and ‘feminine’, how do their constructs differ for you?

And how are these associations showing up and even possibly limiting you and your life?

Understanding how we view the identities that we wear can help dismantle any traits that we are holding which no longer serve us. Because let’s be honest, being liberated sexually and in our integrity is a lot of fun and it opens up our voice, our creativity, and our life.

What is the embodied slut?

Embodiment is feeling relaxed and sensitized in our body. Embodiment helps us to come home to the presence of our body—our whole body including our ovaries which hold their own unique wisdom—are talking to us.

When our body lets us know that we feel stressed, or we are carrying trauma, or are feeling overwhelmed it has its own messages. Tingling sensations, numbness, and pain are all examples of dissociation in the body. Things that take us away from our core, and from feeling relaxed and sensitive in the moment.

Here are a few questions for you:

Do a quick scan of your body. Where do you feel blocked in your body? (Things to look out for would be any numbness, tingling sensations or sharp pain coming up in areas.)

How does your relationship that you have with your body affect your life?

How can I increase the intimacy that I have with my body every day and every moment throughout the day?

Embodiment helps you bring more of yourself and the feminine which can broaden your feminine landscape and your life. It is not about trying to get somewhere but reclaiming the potential that your body already holds within it. We are restoring the wild feminine within ourselves when we rediscover the lost parts, painful parts and integrate awareness.

There are many factors that take us away from being that embodied slut. The world we live in is a prime example. When our energy as women is depleted because we are living every day from mostly masculine mode then that will cause dissociation from our body.

So, embodiment and sluttiness go hand in hand.

But as I have said, once I was a slut and dissociated from my body. In fact, I was riding the clitoral orgasmic wave and just living from that high. I was not in tune with my body but rather disconnected and seeking any sort of relief to help me connect. Because unconsciously I did want to be embodied but I didn’t know how to go about it.

So, here are some practices to help you to step into the embodied slut.

These practices are geared toward relaxation, pleasure and getting you in touch with your sensuality and sexuality:

– Meditation / yoga

– Dance/ movement

– Intellectual stimulation (reading sexual development books)

– Community (with other embodied sluts)

– Creative pursuits – not just pursuing your creativity to share with the world but to share with yourself.

– Self-pleasure (aka masturbation)

– Sex (that is not focused on the goal but is focused on the sensations and the journey)

– Earthing (taking your shoes off and walking on the grass)

– Receiving pelvic care (yoni massage from a pelvic care professional)

As we pay attention to our body we begin to engage with our whole being. This transforms how we respond mentally and emotionally. As we move into embodiment and open ourselves up to being in the present moment, relaxed, in-tune with our bodies signals and also sensitive to our emotions and the world around us we capture our core: the embodied slut.
