The 3 Best Quotes From The Final Episode of One Tree Hill

One Tree Hill

Unlike the majority of people in this day and age, I don’t consider myself to be a Netflix binge-watcher. I typically get restless after watching the same thing for too long, and feel the need to find a more productive activity. However, one show is an exception – and that’s One Tree Hill. I definitely binged, and I binged hard.

The interesting thing is, I usually make fun of excessively cheesy, teen-girl shows. Granted, I was probably also too old to be watching it at such a level of intensity. However, One Tree Hill was just entirely too addicting. The romantic scenes always caused a weird feeling in my stomach, and I could just never quite pinpoint if it was affection or nausea. Also needless to say, the cast was spot-on.

Sofia Bush’s character as Brooke Davis was weirdly inspiring. Her assertive nature mixed with a touch of flirtiness, all while managing to look flawlessly beautiful every episode? Please Brooke, teach me your ways. Of course, Chad Michael Murray and James Lafferty weren’t so bad to look at either.

All of us have been through afflictions – tough relationships, family drama, pressure at school or work…. The list goes on and on. Therefore, sometimes we just need an overly dramatic – yet wildly entertaining – show to understand our life dilemmas. The series was filled with notable quotes, and a few specific ones from the series finale stood out to me the most:

“If you had a friend you knew you’d never see again, what would you say? If you could do one last thing for someone you love, what would it be? Say it, do it, don’t wait. Nothing lasts forever.” –Brooke Davis

We often claim that we are waiting until the “perfect time” to do or say something, even though we know deep down that now is as good a time as any. It can be frightening to take chances, due to the chance of rejection or embarrassment. However, sometimes we simply have to put our fears aside. Waiting may seem like the safest option, but life is unpredictable. Situations happen, and sometimes we have to react quicker than we ever thought we would. So remind your best friend of how much they mean to you. Let your guard down, and tell that one person how you really feel. Avoid the possibility of regret elicited by a lost opportunity, and just go for it.

“We spend so much time wanting, pursuing, wishing. But ambition is good. Chasing things with integrity is good. Dreaming.” Haley James Scott

The next time you catch yourself wishing that things could be different, redirect your thoughts. Focus instead on the active steps you can take to potentially reach your goals, rather than your idealized image of life. At the same time, don’t chase anything that’s slightly attainable. As we get older, we eventually grasp a better understanding of knowing our own worth. We begin to understand which aspects in life are worth fighting for, and which aren’t. Unfortunately, as much as we long for certain things to work out, external factors will always prevent them from doing so. Therefore, don’t chase temporary happiness. Chase things worth holding on to – and things will slowly but surely change the way that you want them to.

“It’s the oldest story in the world. One day you’re 17 and planning for someday. And then quietly and without you ever really noticing, someday is today. And then someday is yesterday. And this is your life.” – Nathan Scott

Terrifying? You bet. It’s strange how quickly life can pass you by, and sometimes you can’t help but wish for things to slow down just a little bit. The days can seem long (and sometimes torturous, while counting down until the weekend), but when you look back, it’s almost as if major life events have come and gone in the blink of an eye. Where did high school go? How is college already over? When did I enter the real world? How did this all happen so quickly, and can I go back to nap time in kindergarten just for a day? As much as we want to rewind sometimes, focus on all of the hardships that you’ve gone through to get to where you are today. Those things you thought you’d never get through? You did. That time in your life when you felt trapped with no possible way out? You found a way. We’ve all ended up surprising ourselves with how we have evolved, especially when you take a step back and look around. And that’s pretty amazing, don’t you think? TC mark
