This Is Waking Up To You

Maria Morri
Maria Morri

morning light rushes in
as you sleep soundly.
I burrow into the warmth of your chest,
my ear against your heart.

as your heart beats softly,
I press my lips
to the nape of your neck.
your eyes flutter open
and I watch
as a smile creeps across
the face I love the most.

only with you,
I look forward to the sunrise.
I was never a morning person
until I met you.

you delight me
with your entrancing essence,
as joy fills the cavities
of my being.
I can’t deny
the warmth you make me feel,
the type of feeling I yearn for.

you press your lips
to my forehead
and I think,
this must be home. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
