If You Actually Want To Change Your Life, You Need To Stop With The Excuses

I want to eat healthier. I want to learn how to cook better. I want to have six-pack abs. I want to create a brand. I want to learn a new language. I want to learn to knit. I want to learn to play the ukulele. I want to…

These are all things I’ve said to myself at one point or another, things that are extremely plausible. And what happens? Nothing. We want so much in life, that many times, we forget that we can just make it happen by doing. This is where Nike hit gold with the slogan “Just Do It”.

Now putting yourself in the mindset to do whatever it is, is another task in its own. That’s why I admire those who have tunnel vision and can so keenly focus on something to get it done. I have this in my work ethic, but not my life ethic…if that makes sense. We find inspiration in all sorts of ways, whether it be something we view, someone we see, something we read, whatever it is that makes you tick; hold on and remember that momentary feeling. So when you’re questioning why you want to something, that is why.

So how do I/we get there? Start. Starting might sound simple but it’s probably the biggest step. Start small, give yourself incremental goals. Allow yourself to build the confidence to continue. Finding friends or just like minded people to start with you helps a ton. You never realize how having a strong support system helps. You’re strong on your own, but as the saying goes, “there’s strength in numbers.” And once you find that rhythm, don’t stop, push forward; Those once incremental goals should turn long term.

If you don’t think you’re capable, ask yourself, are you willing? Because we are all capable, but not everyone is willing to put in the work and time it takes to accomplish the things we want.

Turn those excuses into execution. TC mark
