How To Get Over Someone Without Deleting Them From Your Life

By

It’s hard to completely get over someone when you’re so interconnected. It probably started as harmless flirting on Tinder. Then, you exchanged numbers. After that, things became official when you “friended” each other on Facebook. At this point, you probably sealed the deal and added Instagram, Snapchat, and maybe even Twitter into the mix.

Things were going great, for a while. You tried to catch yourself from falling, but it was inevitable. Things continued on for a bit, until the flame slowly started to fade. Perhaps you moved apart or maybe things just stopped clicking. Regardless, now you’re left with all these connections to them.

How petty it would be if you were to go through and delete them from each and every channel. Mainly, you stop yourself from doing this because a small piece of you is clinging to the hope that the flame re-ignites at some point.

When these connections remain dormant, it’s confusing enough. Things really get screwy when you’re scrolling through Instagram and notice that they liked your recent post, you’re notified they liked your Facebook status, or maybe they favorited a tweet.

Suddenly, the little red heart on Instagram, the one you actually look forward to seeing, is now filling you with confusion and frustration. Are they trying to subtly re-insert themselves into your life, or are they harmlessly and genuinely liking something? You’ll never know and that’s what kills you.

Let it go. Easier said than done, right? You can’t allow yourself to focus on it. If there is even a slim chance you want to ever reconnect with this person, don’t sever the connections. If you find your mind stuck on them, distract yourself. Force yourself to let go of what could’ve, should’ve, and would’ve been. Lastly, live YOUR life.
