Answered prayers! The sixth season of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Orange County will premiere on March 6th and judging by the preview, this season will involve divorce, physical assault, and talk of vaginal rejuvenation! When we last saw the girls, most of them appeared to be broke, out of love and suicidal. Tamra Barney was divorcing from her Sleeping With The Enemy husband, Simon, and Lynne Curtin was facing eviction from her rental property.

This season, things still appear to be on a downward trajectory. Vicki Gunvalson files for divorce from her longtime husband, Don—and says perhaps the best line in Real Housewives history, “God hates divorce!”—Tamra Barney puts a restraining order against her ex-husband and Alexis Bellino seems to finally be fed up with her Christian misogynistic beau, Jim.  Wowza! These women paint such a bleak portrait of wealth. Their relationships are loveless, their friendships are phony, and they have the displeasure of living in Orange County. Hopefully new cast member Fernanda Rocha—the first lesbian in the show’s history— will bring some much-needed fun to the new season. To be honest, I’m not sure what took them so long to add a gay woman in the mix. They’re more dramatic than straight women (allegedly) and are known to be completely insane (allegedly). Also, the  cast of Real Housewives of Orange County aren’t known for being the most progressive bunch, so it will be interesting to see how a lesbian meshes with the ladies’ strong moral compass.  Discrimination based on sexual preference? Now that’s some 2011 drama.  TC mark
