You’ve got to admit that the similarities between Black Swan and Showgirls are striking. Natalie Portman and Elizabeth Berkeley both play slightly insane dancers who are willing to dabble in lesbianism to get the career of their dreams and when the two films merge together, it creates a beautiful marriage of dance, paranoia and intense expressions. The only thing Black Swan lacks is a Cirque Du Soleil sex scene in a pool with Kyle Maclachlan but I suppose there’s always the sequel!
