I Hope You Never Feel This Empty

I hope you never feel empty. I hope you never feel nothing, because honestly, emptiness is one of the worst things that you could ever feel. Feeling any unpleasant emotion even if it’s a sad one or a painful one is still better than not feeling anything at all.

Feeling nothing is probably one of the worst things that you could ever go through; it’s being loved by someone fiercely but not being able to feel that love or even love them back. It’s having a lack of passion towards everything. It’s feeling numb all the time—nothing makes you mad, nothing upsets you, nothing ignites that spark of happiness inside of you and nothing actually moves you or touches you from the inside anymore.

Feeling nothing makes you feel like you can’t cry anymore. You can’t laugh your heart out, and you can’t even lose your temper anymore; you just end up feeling so drained all the time. You just keep on feeling like your emotions and energy are just sucked out of you; you feel like you have nothing to give and you have nothing to offer to anyone. You can’t be there for anyone, and you can’t even feel the people around you who are trying to be there for you.

This feeling is not sadness—it’s absolute nothingness. It’s you having a conversation without having any interest in it whatsoever. It’s you getting everything done just for the sake of it being done, and it’s you doing everyday chores without energy or passion—you are just doing it for the sake of moving on with everyday life.

I can’t imagine a worse way of living; to not feel, to not taste, to not be able to love, to not be able to give or receive, to just lose that appetite for life, to just feel so empty and so drained from the inside all the time. I hope you never feel that way. Next time you feel something, even if it’s sadness, regret, or anger, I hope you will take a moment to appreciate the fact that you can still feel something.

I want to write about you, me, and all of us.
