Does A Nice Shirt Really Make Your Life Better? Let’s Find Out!

By

For the most part, I dress with the mindset of comfort. If I’m not going out, I’m usually wearing sweatpants and a hoodie. I always hear people talk about how much people respect and admire those who dress nice, but I’ve never listened. I started thinking about it and realized that ZZ Top wouldn’t have sang Sharp Dressed Man if it weren’t true. If there’s one band I trust on life issues, it’s ZZ Top. So I decided to give it a shot and wear a really nice dress shirt for a day and see what happens.

Just to put it in perspective, here’s what I was wearing before my experiment:

That’s a hoodie with no shirt underneath it. Who does that? I started browsing around online and figured if I’m going to do it, I might as well get one that looks like the best, so I got one from ShirtsMyWay. I designed my own shirt and then waited for that bad boy to come in the mail. It’s cool because you can pick out the design and material, as well as the fit so it doesn’t turn out like one of those awkward-fitting shirts your grandma used to buy you for Christmas.

Once it arrived, it was time to put it to the test. I tried it on and it was super comfortable, but would it really improve my life? It definitely was an upgrade from my shirtless hoodie. I decided to hit the town and see if anyone noticed the change.

I decided to stop by this really nice restaurant that is usually booked up for months in advance with reservations from the rich and powerful. I walked up to the hostess and asked if they had room for me. Guess what happened?

I got in immediately! This place was ridiculously nice and I knew I was going to be running into some high class members of society, but I had no idea what was in store for me. I had some free wine and breadsticks, but before I knew what was happening, I was ushered back into a private room. Apparently there’s an even more exclusive room within the exclusive restaurant. I was informed two of the VIPs saw my shirt and wanted to hang out with me. Who were they, you ask?

Oh just my two heroes; TI and Robert DeNiro! I know you’re probably wondering how TI and Robert DeNiro became my heroes. It’s because my aunt gave me a copy of Ronin and TI’s Paper Trail for my birthday and I loved them both very much. These two guys were a real hoot. We ate chicken tenders and onion rings for a while but then they said they had to get up early the next day and needed to go home. I was understanding, but definitely wasn’t tired.

As they left I turned the corner and was grabbed by security and ushered into another room. Apparently there’s an EVEN MORE exclusive room inside the exclusive room of the exclusive restaurant. You won’t believe who was in this room:

Is that pretty much every world leader? Yep! They asked me to help with some issues, but then we decided to play Scattegories for a while. I can honestly say that I dominated. We had some good times. Eventually they said they needed to get some rest for the summit the next day and I was, again, very understanding. As they left I was just going to go to White Castle and get some food, but another security guard saw my shirt and ushered me into AN EVEN MORE EXCLUSIVE ROOM! This place had more layers than Inception. I don’t know how this one was even possible, but look where I ended up:

I was partying with the 2001 Los Angeles Lakers! How is this even possible? Can a nice shirt really give you the ability to time travel? It appears so! As cool as it was, I’m more of a Chicago Bulls fan so I didn’t want to hang out very long. I told Shaq and Kobe thanks for their hospitality and headed out.

I got home and truly couldn’t believe what doors had been opened just by wearing a really nice dress shirt. So does wearing nice clothes really change your life? I don’t know, why don’t you ask my close, personal friends Barack Obama, TI, Robert DeNiro, and 2001 Shaquille O’Neal?
