How Trump’s Speech In Saudi Arabia Might Mean His Views On Islam Have Changed

Trump’s speech in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia seems to me as the biggest shock to the Trump haters. Keeping all that aside, in Riyadh, everyone saw a different side of Trump — a new personality and a new outlook. Trump pivoted from his strident view of extremist Islam (some would call it Islamaphobia) to an ardent but not soft view to redefine American leadership in the Middle East and to urge world leaders to combat extremism.

What was the speech really about and why is there so much of hype?

In the speech, Trump enforced the idea that the fight against terrorism was not a conflict between religions. He said, “This is not a battle between different faiths, different sects or different civilizations.” So the very fact that people considered him to be a racist and a xenophobe is refuted.

Could this event mark a transition in Trump’s form of governance? Perhaps it may, and I would like to believe that the high esteem of the President of the United States will be restored. Maybe it’s too early, but it’s a good start from Trump towards this motive. From the infamous “Islam hates us” to the new “This is a battle between good and evil,” I pray you to believe in Trump’s newly progressive face.

Now obviously when writing this, I did keep in mind that this was highly vulnerable to political scrutiny. Knowing this, this speech should be taken into consideration for the truth-echoing visceral that everybody wants to hear.

Throughout the speech, Trump came out as a disciplined, sober and mindful president, and what he talked about in Saudi Arabia demonstrated the diplomatic calm contrary to his other talks. (Yes, I know his other speeches were really bad, but just go on.) Truly the attention was towards the moral goal of stopping barbarians from ruining people’s lives and the gaiety of nations.

The speech sets a new path for democracy and the relationship between the U.S. and Islam, clearly pointed out by Trump when he said, “We are not here to tell other people how to live, what to do, who to be or how to worship. Instead, we are here to offer partnership — based on shared interests and values — to pursue a better future for us all “

Trump’s new step will abolish the notion among the left the anti-Muslim rhetoric that was previously established, and in all fairness this progressive step to make the world a better place again and fighting extremism with the help of Muslim brothers.
