5 Ways To Regain Clarity When The Going Gets Tough

By

1. Be steadfast.

I am not the most pious person. However, I do believe that everything happens for a reason and that you undergo tribulations because the Creator knows that you can handle them. In times like this, let faith be bigger than your fears.

After all, prayer is the best weapon against all trials. However, prayers alone won’t work unless you do something. That’s why, no matter how rough the sea gets, just keep on sailing. Even if you progress little by little, you’ll eventually reach your destination.

2. Learn acceptance.

Learn to accept that you are a human that was born without supernatural powers or extreme capabilities. You are not a superhero! Learn to let go of the things beyond your control and stop acting like a messiah.

Acceptance also means that you don’t compare the weight of your burden with others. For some, money might have never been an issue, but I’ll tell you what, behind those flashy designer bags, top-of-the-line cars, and huge mansions are their own ‘monsters’ lurking in the dark.

3. Remain positive.

I understand that when you are down, it’s hard to find inspiration. Everything seems like a blur. Life feels meaningless, so you start taking the easy way out.

You might have hundreds of reasons to wallow in self-pity, but there are also hundreds of things to be grateful about. How about taking time to appreciate small things, like the rolling hills, the aroma of coffee, the romantic sunset, or just the mere fact that you are still breathing? People say that happiness is a choice, so choose to be happy.

4. Don’t bottle up your emotions.

Problems aren’t like wine that tastes better with age. Some problems need to be shared ASAP. The sooner, the better. In psychology, there’s something called the ‘emotional threshold,’ which means that we can contain only so many emotions.

When you are nearing your threshold, talk to your trusted friends about the things that are bothering you. That’s what they are for. You’re human, so cry hard if you need to. Feel the pain and move on. Don’t be so tough on yourself.

5. Learn a lesson or two from the horrible experience.

An adage claims that ‘experience is the best teacher’ so make sure that you gain something out of this difficult phase in your life. Remember, challenges are there to help you become a better version of yourself. This doesn’t come easily though, especially when you lose sight of the forest through the trees.
