6 Reasons Why You Should Wear A Watch

By

In today’s world of smart phones and technology, there seems to be a lesser need for wearing a watch. Why should I wear a watch when my smart phone is glued to my hand 24/7? I can always pull out my phone if I ever need to know what time it is. Or I can ask someone else. And there’s bound to be clocks around where I am! Watches seem so unnecessary nowadays.

Well, that’s where you’re wrong.

1. Accessorize!

Watches can be shiny and covered with diamonds, they can be simple and solid colored, or they can be bright and in your face. You can have a watch for every occasion. For work, for clubbing, for going to dinner, for fancy parties, for running, for anything that you can think of there is a watch for. And how much better do you think you will look with a watch that matches your fuzzy purple vest versus a bracelet made of the same material? Shoot, why not wear a purple fuzzy watch?

2. You always know the time.

How annoying is it when someone asks you what time it is? Every. Two. Minutes. “Hey, do you know what time it is?” Yes, it’s about two minutes after you asked me two minutes ago. Nobody likes that person. I was once that person, but I invested in a watch and now I don’t even have to ask anymore. In fact, I now feel naked if I don’t have my watch on my wrist. And I can look at my watch as often as I can without having to bother anybody about the time.

3. Owning a watch is classy.

You know what’s not classy? Pulling out your phone in the middle of a meeting to see what time it is. Let’s say you’re in a meeting and you need to know what time it is. But wait, you don’t have a watch. So you have to dig for your phone out of your pocket, or your purse, and probably distract the person sitting next to you, just to check and see what time it is. What if there’s a presentation going on? Then, your little light will distract the person sitting next to you as well! It’s much more subtle and a lot more classy to take a quick glance at a watch than to take the time to look at your phone.

4. You look more dignified

I personally think that a person that wears a watch has a little more style in comparison to the person who might not. I’m not saying that everyone that wears a watch is more dignified, but they look the part. It’s nice to see someone who takes pride in their appearance and will take the time to use an accessory that is necessary for their daily activities but also one that looks good with their outfit. You don’t have to wear a suit and tie to wear a watch and you don’t have to get a watch that is super expensive. You may even want to get a digital watch because they might be easier to read than analog, but hey, that’s completely up to you.

5. You are prepared

Hey, do you have a timer? Can you set an alarm for me? Can you track the distance from here to there? This may pertain to digital watches (or GPS watches for the runners out there) but you can be so much more prepared with a watch! You may even feel more prepared. Some watches even come with calculators. So if you’re ever in a bind and you can’t remember what 7×8 is, your watch has got your back.

6. You feel mature

Watches make me feel like I’m an adult. Watches give the wearer a sense of identity — the type of watch you wear can display your personality in subtle ways. Additionally, watches have this feeling of independence. You don’t need to rely on anyone else, you have a watch. You can conquer the world now. And that’s what being an adult is about.

Or you can sit at your desk and play with the calculator on your watch because you’re an adult and you can do whatever the hell you want.
