When Love Feels Harder Than It Should Be

When love feels harder than it should be, know that it’s definitely not love. It’s not the right kind of love at least because even though the right kind of love is not easy, it’s also never excruciatingly hard.

It doesn’t leave you up all night crying because you don’t know where you stand or if you’re being treated right or if you’re the only one.

It doesn’t make you question what’s wrong with you or what’s wrong with the world.

It doesn’t make you want to give up on love and everything that has to do with it.

Love heals. It doesn’t destroy.

Love makes you want to live. It doesn’t make you want to jump off a cliff.

Love brings out the best in you, it doesn’t make you bitter, resentful, angry or vindictive.

Love shows you a whole new world, a world you never thought you’d live, it doesn’t make your world darker or harder or more painful. Love shows you the light.

When love feels harder than it should be, don’t call it love, call it infatuation, call it lust, call it obsession but don’t call it love because love doesn’t leave you broken, love makes you whole.

Love makes your heart trust and believes again.

Love makes you want to give everything you’ve got and then some.

When love feels harder than it should be, you have to understand that you’re not in love with the right person or you haven’t met the right person yet.

When all you know is heartbreak, then you’ve never really found love or been in the right relationship. I know it’s sometimes hard to hear that because we want to call our romantic experiences love but sometimes they’re just merely romantic experiences; whether good or bad, they’re just lessons, they’re temporary because love is not hard.

Love doesn’t just leave. Love doesn’t poison you. Love doesn’t make you never want to love again.

Love gives you hope. Love gives you strength. Love makes you grow and love makes you smile when you’re sad. It makes you run when you’re tired. It makes you calm when you’ve been addicted to the chaos. Love only hurts when it’s wrong. Love is only hard when you’re giving your heart to someone who is not ready or doesn’t want to give you all of theirs. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
