I’m Not The Girl Everyone Who Couldn’t Love Me Told Me I Was

By

I’m not the crazy girl who lacked ambition
and only wanted love.
I’m not the girl who’s lost with no direction–
listening to whoever has something to say.

I’m not the clingy girl;
the one desperate for affection.
I’m not the one who can’t breathe
without a hand to hold.

I’m not the girl who wasn’t good enough,
who always fell for better people,
people out of her league.
I’m not the girl you walk all over.

I’m not the girl people always leave.
I’m not the girl who can’t keep a man.
I’m not the girl who doesn’t know how to love.
I’m not the girl who only wants what she can’t have.

I’m not the girl with daddy issues.
I’m not the girl you need to fix.
I’m not the girl who comes with baggage.
I’m not the girl who’s damaged beyond repair.

I’m this girl for the ones who were weak,
the ones who judged what they couldn’t understand,
the ones who are used to giving up on people,
the ones who don’t give people a fair chance.

I’m this girl for the ones who look for ways
to run away from deep love,
run away from anything real and raw,
run away from anything vulnerable.

I’m this girl for the ones who like the game,
they only want to have fun,
they only want the honeymoon phase,
the ones who don’t understand love.

But I’m not any of these girls.
I’m the girl who is working on herself —
the girl with a very turbulent journey
hoping to meet someone who’s not afraid of storms.

Maybe you can’t see my beauty right away,
maybe you will never understand my creativity,
maybe I won’t always fit in a box
but you’ll always feel my love.
