Maybe I Can Make Your Heart Beat One More Time

By

Maybe I can find a way to make your heart warm again, the way it used to be before it turned cold, the way it used to be before it was taught not to feel and the way it used to be when it was strong, before they brought it down and shattered it into pieces.

Maybe I can find a way to reassure you instead of all those who made you doubt yourself. Maybe I can be the voice you need to hear when you’re being too hard on yourself and maybe I can be the one to remind you of how beautiful it can be to share your life with someone.

I want to remind you that someone cares about your day, even the silly details. I want to remind you that someone wants to be there for you, even when things are not that exciting and I want to remind you that you can have both a friend and a lover in one person, that it doesn’t have to be one or the other and that what you’re looking for exists.

Maybe I can make your heart beat one more time by actually loving you instead of hurting you, by staying instead of leaving and by holding you instead of letting you go.

Maybe I can make your heart beat one more time because I know you’re not ready to give up on love yet, you’re not ready to be alone just yet, you’re just tired of the wrong ones and tired of heartbreak but maybe if you let me, I can show you another way. I can show you that not all love stories end in heartbreak and not everyone you love will hurt you, sometimes they heal you, sometimes they can be your saving grace.

Let me be your saving grace, let me show your heart that it can still beat for all the right reasons.

Because the only thing we really fear is heartbreak not love, we fear rejection, we fear showing someone all we’ve got, then they decide that they don’t want to deal with it, but let me tell you that this is not what I’ll do because my heart was also on the verge of death and somehow you brought it back to life, so if you don’t mind, please let me return the favor.
