10 Moms Reveal The One Thing They Wish They Could Tell Their Younger Selves

By

1. Take it easy.

“You will graduate, you will find a job and you will find a boy. Don’t stress too much about how your life will turn out because it will be fine.” — Joanne, 52

2. Don’t let the love of your life go without a fight.

“I never fought for the guy I truly loved because I was scared he’d hurt me, now that I’m divorced for the second time, I sometimes wonder how different my life would be if I had told him how I truly felt.” — Denise, 61

3. Break the rules sometimes.

“I played it safe my whole life and now I feel like I should’ve lived a little more recklessly at a time I could’ve gotten away with it but the more responsibilities you have, the more cautious you are because your decisions no longer belong to you only.” — Amber, 54

4. Don’t get married and have kids when you’re too young.

“I got married when I was 20 and had a kid when I was 21, I don’t regret them, but I had to grow up so fast and I had no time to really know who I am and what I want. Your twenties are the years to see the world and it’s hard to do that when you have a family to take care of. ” — Pia, 45

5. Have your own savings account.

“I depended so much on my parents and then my husband, I never really had my own money so I can at least pamper myself when I need to without feeling guilty. At that time, all I wanted was to get married and I never really focused on a career, now I teach my daughters to have their own careers in order not to depend on anyone to take care of them.” — Nancy, 52

6. Be kind to your parents.

“I was a rebellious kid, I probably made my parents suffer and cry so many nights, now after I’ve lost them both, I wish I was kinder and more loving. It’s the most valuable lesson I’ve learned….love them before you lose them.” — Linda, 65

7. Don’t live your life trying to please your friends.

“You will get married and lose most of them so always have your own identity and make sure no one is taking advantage of you.” — Hoda, 54

8. A man will not solve all your problems.

“He might help you get through it but at the end of the day you’re left with you, you will always have to solve your own issues no matter how old you are.” — Lilo, 49

9. Listen to your Mother.

“I know that now when my kids don’t listen to me and then they come tell me I was right. We’re older, more mature, more experienced and really have your best interest at heart, so it makes sense to listen to us!” — Nora, 58

10. Have a sense of humor.

“Life is tough, marriage is hard, kids will drive you nuts, so if you don’t have a sense of humor in your life, you will find reasons to be miserable. Life is better when you try to find ways to laugh instead of cry.” — Betty, 65.
