The Cost-Free Hairstyle Everyone Should Try: Sweaty Hair

Sweaty sleepers rejoice: things are finally starting to look up.
I used to think my hair’s potential for anything outside the realm of lifelessness was remote. But then FKA Twigs emerged with her s-curls and suddenly my horizon was looking brighter. You see, I sweat in my sleep – a lot. My forehead, in particular, is a hot zone for perspiration and thus a friend to the Twigs hairstyle. I often wake up with a damp forehead and, if positioned correctly, with stringy hair glued to said forehead. Put differently: I can point to FKA Twigs’ i-D cover and say, in full earnestness, “I wake up like this.”
Sure, Twigs’ hair might spell out “LOVE” and mine “WASH ME” – but, baby steps for the baby hairs, am I right? (Probably not.)
But as a sweaty sleeper, I know that we’re an underrepresented group. We’re forced to wash our pillowcases twice as often as the average perspirator. And after a night of nookie we have to hear, “Did you pee the bed?” We’ve been labeled as “slicked back” and brushed aside as nothing more than “wet hair.” We’re a persecuted group, an oppressed group. Which is why it’s high time we embrace our sweaty hair and let it flow freely. Below, some sweaty hair crusaders. Thought Catalog Logo Mark

1. The Prada Resort 2015 campaign.

The three girls look a tad miffed and why shouldn’t they? Denying anyone of their right to shower would engender frustration. Ine, honey, I’ve been there; I know it doesn’t FEEL good, but it looks good.

3. Constance Jablonski for Numéro, November 2014.

Some might call this wet hair. I call this: me after a particularly rousing, AP-French-class-themed nightmare. After all, it was Paul Simon who said that one man’s ceiling is another man’s floor.
