You Are Good Enough No Matter What Anyone Tells You

At one point or another, some more often than others, we all feel like we are just simply not enough. Whether that means not enough for our parents, for our friends, for our employers, or our significant others – it happens to everyone. You are not alone.

Saying that everyone feels this way sometimes does not by any means justify this feeling. It is not a feeling I would wish on the person I dislike the most.

Everyone deserves to know their worth at all times of every single day. It’s a pity that it isn’t an easier task to accomplish.

However, as easy as it unfortunately is not, is it absolutely attainable. I think everyone knows the saying “nothing worth having comes easy” – that couldn’t be more applicable. It’s an incredible amount of hard work that really makes you dig deep and really look at yourself.

Look deep down and know that there is so much more to you than whatever someone decided to pick apart and make you hate yourself for it. Who is to say that they are right? You are the only one making yourself believe what they say. You don’t have to listen to them, and you absolutely shouldn’t. Letting others tell you what is and is not acceptable about yourself? They have no right. That is not their place.

Only YOU get to tell yourself what is and is not right about yourself. And honestly, EVERYTHING is right about you. It may be different than others, and you may really dislike things about others, but that’s what makes them them. They are absolutely right about EVERYTHING about them. Only you know what you are really about. Only you get to decide what kind of person you are. Taking people’s advice is one thing, but them directly telling you what you should be like is wrong. Them directly telling you you aren’t good enough is wrong.

You ARE good enough. EVERYONE is good enough. It may take you awhile to find the thing you’re good enough for, or the person you’re good enough for, but it’s out there. It’s out there for each and every person out there.

As much as you may get beaten down on the way to that place that’s meant for you, getting to that place makes it all worth it. All I ask, all everyone should ever ask of anyone else, is be patient enough with yourself to get to that place. Have faith in yourself. Believe in yourself. Know that you’re the best version of you that will ever exist. Know that you are good enough, and that you are worth it. Everyone is worth every second of their life.  Thought Catalog Logo Mark
