  1. Never think you are alone or you are the only one going through a situation. Odds are I’ve experienced what you are going through. You are all at different ages, different stages, and if you ever need anyone to talk to you know my number.
  2. Be open to other people; if someone is eating alone at a table in the cafeteria please ask if they need someone to sit with. Be kind.
  3. Trying to fit in in will get old and sooner or later you will realize you just need to surround yourself with people who make you happy and appreciate your weirdness.
  4. Please don’t let anyone push you around or try to define you. Don’t let your friends, family, and coaches, tell you who you are. You are the only person who defines who you want to be.
  5. Enjoy the age you are at, because each phase of your life sucks in its own way, but it can always be beautiful if you choose to make it that way.
  6. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, if you are having a bad day express that. There’s no need to cover up emotions, cause bottling it up won’t help anything.
  7. Odds are, the thing that’s keeping you up at night right now, won’t matter in a month. Remember that.
  8. True learning doesn’t happen in the classroom, or reading a textbook. It happens while you are living, on the playground, around your friends, and talking to our grandparents.
  9. Know what’s happening around the world, Google the Syrian conflict; know what’s going on. Be wise and know your stance. Be open to learn about other cultures, other religions, and other races. It’s easy to forget about the fact we live in a global society when you live in a small town in Maine. But, learn to be tolerating of other people. It will help you grow.
  10. Your first job is gonna suck, and you will want to quit every shift. But, keep going because that job will lead you to your next job, which could lead you to your dream job.
  11. Go to concerts. Sports games. Sneak out of your house at least once before you move out. Study and work hard. Have fun. Eat a ton of cake. Take lots of walks. Call your grandma, she loves you. Go on a road trip to Boston. Fall in love with yourself. TC mark
