3 Tips For Coping With Getting Fired

By

So: you get a new job, with a jaw dropping salary and excellent benefits. You are all set to make a good impression at the new place, but just 3 weeks into your new job your boss drops the bomb. Just when you think life will get better, it goes right back to square one.

I won’t deny it: it is a very stressful period. You have hundreds of thoughts running through your head. You might even feel useless and literally good for nothing. You don’t want to talk to anybody, but instead just sit on the bed and curse life and your luck for days on end. Eventually you are able to get a hold of your life and your situation. Time starts to heal your wounds and you are back to looking for new jobs.

Now the period between looking for jobs and getting one is more or less like a holiday period. You wake up late, have brunch, browse articles or news on the net, speak to near and dear ones and apply around for jobs. You have just one life. Why would you spend it doing absolutely nothing constructive? Here are a few tips as to how to make this seemingly “never-ending” period of unemployment enjoyable.

1. Always find people who speak and think positively.

Speaking to someone like that for at least 15 minutes a day, can make such a huge difference to your day. Avoid anybody who is in a similar situation and just wants to whine about how bad his/her luck is and how unfortunate life is. These kinds of people are not bad, but they are just spreading negative energy and you want to stay far away from them. Your situation is not permanent, it will change.

2. Make a schedule for your days.

Allot timings for all the things you want to do that day. Maybe watch a favorite show on TV or continue a hobby, job search, hitting the gym or anything else. That way you will have lot of things to do and won’t really feel like you are not doing anything. Remember, an ideal mind is the devil’s workshop.

3. Take up short online certifications or classes that you’ve always wanted to do, but just never had the time to do.

Well, now you have all the time in the world and make full use of it. Maybe a 3 weeks online course on interior design management. You will spend 3 constructive weeks on learning what you love and even get certified! How cool will that be! It will make you proud.

Life is too beautiful and short to spend it doing nothing. Don’t wait for the right time for happiness — make every moment memorable and worthwhile! Have a good life!
