Peter Rubie is a Founding Partner of
Lincoln Square Books, a company focused on helping authors become independent publishers, as well as the CEO of FinePrint Literary Management, where as a literary agent he represents a broad range of high-quality fiction and non-fiction.
Peter is a British expatriate, former BBC Radio and Fleet Street journalist, who was a member of the New York University publishing faculty for ten years. For several years he was also the director of the book publishing section of the NYU Summer Publishing Institute.
Prior to becoming an agent, Peter was an in-house editor for Walker & Co. (now Bloomsbury Books), for nearly six years, and has also worked independently as a book doctor for Random House, Penguin Putnam, Simon&Schuster and other mainstream publishing companies.
Back “in the day,” he was the editor-in-chief of a Manhattan local newspaper, and was once a regular reviewer for the international trade magazine Publishers Weekly. A member of the Association of Authors Representative (AAR), he regularly lectures and writes on publishing and the craft of writing among other topics. He is also a published author of fiction and non-fiction in his own right.
What many people do not know about Peter is that he is also an active professional jazz musician. On any given week, he can be heard playing guitar around jazz venues in New York City—and occasionally in London.
