What If We Chose From Love, Instead Of Choosing From Fear?

By

What if we’d buy that bag
without counting
the days left in the month
and the dollars in the purse
till the numbers make our head swirl.

What if we’d jump
into the deep end of the pool
without feeling our heart
drop into the pit of our stomach
before our feet even leave the board.

What if we’d take that solo trip
without warning bells
about discomforts and dangers
and expenses and gap years
ringing in our ears.

What if we’d say ‘I love you’
without bracing
our self and soul
in anticipation of the rejection
that might not even come.

What if, for once,
we choose from love
instead of choosing from fear?
