This Is Why Dark Times Show How Strong You Really Are

Struggles shall always pave the roads that we walk upon, constantly pushing us to our limits before we are finally relieved and given back our breath and peace of mind. But what if it overwhelms us to the point that we slowly falter and fall apart from the inside out?

What happens when an aspect of our lives is vigorously tested and forced to the brink of breaking down? This is when our true selves prevail.

I believe that hardships have the power to draw the most powerful parts ourselves out of the shadows that have been casted by comfort and solace. Only in the most challenging times are we forced to resort to our true identities in order to survive; may it be for the better or for the worse.

For those who shine through difficulties, the saying “only under intense pressure are diamonds formed” exists for a reason. These are the people that face complications and stress with their banner of positivity proudly waving. They refuse to allow distress to cloud their better judgement and put themselves above the problem in order to conquer it. More often than not, they would already have a strategy playing through their minds when the issue strikes.

This may be rooted because they have a strong sense of who they are and aren’t afraid to let that be seen by the world. They know that they are the ones who will always focus on the light at the end of the tunnel, rather than the darkness that surrounds them. These people know that there is something at the end of it. They know that hope is not completely gone when problems approach. That misfortunes have no power over them unless they allow it.

But there are those unfortunate few that are overwhelmed by the shadows and are consumed with the stress of it, allowing it to crumble them slowly and painfully until their lives follow suit. These are the people who know that the light at the end of the tunnel doesn’t eliminate the darkness they’re in. But by bit, a part of them is chipped away until an unredeemable hole is left at its place.

Always remember that you have the power to choose not only how others see you, but also who you truly are when no one is there. You can allow these shadows to eat you alive or you can allow your light to shine through and cast them away. Never allow temporary moments to change who you are permanently because it isn’t worth it to lose yourself for something that shouldn’t have so much power over you. Always remember that there’s hope, even in the darkness. For only in darkness can stars shine.
