Read This If Your Long Term Relationship Just Ended

It’s going to hurt at first.

2 AM will become the friend who comforts you as you lay awake in a bed that was once home to two.

It’s important to keep yourself busy, don’t let your mind wander to a place where it reminisces on the things that once was, or what could have been. Take down the pictures in your room and clear the dates in your diary – because, in order to heal, you need to let go.

Don’t be too hard on yourself, just because a flower that you promised to care for together died of thirst, doesn’t mean you’re the only one who killed it.

Every stage of grief and loss is the same, you’ll start to deny the reality of it all and almost everything will become meaningless and obsolete. You can’t listen to the same songs without hearing them in every word and you’ll become angry, for one of the hardest things you will ever have to do is grieve the loss of a person who is still alive.

There are going to be many moments in your life when a person will spark something in you that will keep you warm for a long time – and sadly they are not always whom we spend our lives with, and you have to remember how to get warm on your own again. Not every ending has to be bad, sometimes things end so that new things can begin. Remember that.

Remember that you are going to love again, each piece of love that you took your time to make for all of the ones that didn’t work out, you’ll be able to give to the one that will. No type of love that you will ever experience in your life will ever go to waste.

For at least you have loved my darling, that’s all any of us can ever do, and sometimes, that’s enough.
