Do What You Love And Do It Often

By

A few months ago, I had someone tell me that I’m too excitable and happy, that I should tone it down, not be so energetic and optimistic about life. This made me think, why would I change who I am just to please other people? Not being full of energy and upbeat is not me, so I ignored them and carried on with my day with a spring in my step.

I know life is hard. Things don’t always go as planned and I’ve had many stumbles along the road, which has made me question my existence and has made me wonder, what’s the point of all this? But we have one life. People walk around like they’ve got another life to go to, but this is it. Why waste another moment dwelling in sadness and fear for 10 chapters when we can turn the page and start another?

If this our only chance at life than I want to do all the things that make me happy. I want to do things out of my comfort zone, meet new people and make amazing new friends, I want to fall head over heels in love, because there are too many mediocre things in life, love shouldn’t be one of them. I want to feel content.

We have so many opportunities in this world, that it’s easy to lose sight of what it is we really want and who we really are. Sometimes we end up doing things we think we “should” do, rather than what we want because of what society might think of us.

But through taking that leap, trying and fucking up and trying again and again and again and fucking up some more, we start to learn a little bit more about ourselves and want we truly want. We get to the core of who we really are and if you’re not content with who you really are, are you really even content?

Stop for a moment and think about what you are doing. Let go of what you “should” be doing and do things that you want to do. Be an optimist, be a realist, be laid-back, be excitable, go traveling, go and work in China, be free, be whatever you want to be and don’t change for anything or anyone.

And remember, bad things happen, but don’t let pain make you bitter and hate life. That is just one chapter of your beautiful story, keep going and remember, always be true to you.
