This is for the ones who bottle their emotions up. Those who have been through so much that an emotional turmoil just seems like a normal Tuesday. The ones who have so much damage to their mind that they are numb to new wreckage.
It is okay to cry. Crying is viewed as weakness. The minute you cry you let in those emotions and accept that those things did happen to you.
Process what happened to you. Cry a little. Then cry some more. Then let the damn break.
If you’re someone who “never cries,” think about why that is. Are you putting up a front for someone else, or are you putting up a front for yourself? Sometimes people tell you that you are stronger then you think you are.
But in your case, you are not as strong as you think you are.
I was at a conference when I heard those words spoken to me. One sentence. One sentence that hurt more than any flesh wound that I endured before. Hitting me like a brick. Knowing that some people are stronger than they think they are, while others aren’t.
That doesn’t mean that you should give up. It doesn’t mean to close yourself off from the world more then you already are.
Let those emotions out. Accept that you aren’t as strong as you think you are. Accept that there are people in your life who can help you. Accept that those people, or person can build you up again. Holding yourself up by that tiny thread isn’t going to fly anymore.
For those who never cry, start by letting that one-person in. Your significant other, your parent, your friend, or even to that friend you made on Tumblr or similar website. Don’t hold back those tears anymore. Don’t hold anything back anymore. Because you aren’t as strong as you think you are.
