This Is How You Say Goodbye To Yourself

By

If you’re gonna ask me what do I miss, I might answer, “Oh a lot of things.”

And by things, I mean things that used to be

The way everything was before all of this
The way it once had been

If you’re gonna ask me who do I miss, I might answer, “Oh a lot of people.”

And by people, I mean those who hold pieces of my heart

Those I chose to let in
Those I didn’t, yet got in
Those who left with goodbyes
And those who left without even saying a word

If you’re gonna ask me do I miss my old self, I might answer, “Oh I think at times I do.”

But I am not so sure

Do I miss her?
Do I miss the girl who I used to be?
Does missing her also means I want to be that again?

If you’re gonna ask me, do I want to be her again, I might answer, “Oh no no, not anymore.”

Yes I do miss her
But that doesn’t mean I want to go back

Yes I do miss her
But that doesn’t mean I want her back

My old stuff that is
My old person that is
My old self that is
All the old things that is

If you’re gonna ask me what do I miss, I might answer, “Oh a lot of things.”

But it would just stay at that
I miss
No turning back
