The final film in Edgar Wright’s Cornetto trilogy doesn’t match the dizzying heights of Hot Fuzz, one of its decade’s best comedies, but it doesn’t have to. The World’s End goes over like gangbusters on its own, an alien-invasion action-comedy that’s also a wise take on the perils of nostalgia. However, it’s star, Simon Pegg, is better than he ever has been, volcanically funny as a middle-aged fuck-up who will do whatever it takes to stay in the past.
