Hi there,

My name is Neil Schraffenberger and I’m a 27-year-old originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. I’ve recently moved from Cincinnati to Denver to experience life in a completely different state and a different culture that surrounds it. Part of the reason for the move was a tumultuous relationship that I had back home with a girl. Though I’m over it now, It got me to thinking about relationships in general and why it’s so difficult for people our age to date in today’s world. After having some of these thoughts float around, I though it would be a good idea to put pen to paper (or text to a word doc in this case) to clarify my thoughts but also give my friends and family something entertaining to read. Quite a few of them liked it and thought it would be a good idea to send it a website for publication. I looked through a a few options and when I stumbled upon the Rumpus I thought this would be the place for me to submit it. My piece is fairly long, and I didn’t want to change the inherit structure of it too much. I think that you’re publication and your readers enjoy the long form and I think that this piece is something that they will be able to appreciate it as well. This piece explores what it’s like to date as a millennial in today’s society and how it’s a microcosm of the rest of our life for better or for worse.
