8 Things I Want My Significant Other To Know
I once read some quote that goes, “The Buddhists say if you meet somebody and your heart pounds, your hands shake, your knees go weak, that’s not the one. When you meet your ‘soul mate,’ you’ll feel calm. No anxiety, no agitation.”
Well, this is exactly how I felt about you the first day I met you. That perfect, peaceful, and soothing calm. It felt like I’ve known you for a long time.
I just knew that you would be the one to hold my heart. This is why I chose to dedicate this letter to you, to shed some light; I have compiled a list of reasons why I love you and why, every day, I would choose you over anything in the world.
1. You inspire me.
Your ambition and strength are inspiring for everyone, especially for someone who’s as lucky as I am, who gets to see you every day. You work so hard and you’re so determined about everything you ever do. The fact that you manage to get everything done while being so clumsy makes it even more fascinating to watch. Even more than that, you are willing to pass it on. I have been through countless emotionally and physically straining situations and you’ve always been there to tell me things like, “You’re a badass, you’ve got this—just don’t give up.”
2. You make me want to be a better person.
This takes me back to my first point. The fact that you are such a strong and kind person makes me want to do my best to try to match you. The way you see people, always finding their good parts, makes me admire you more and more every day. I do think it takes a strong heart to be so kind to everyone.
Ever since I met you, I have been doing my best to improve every aspect of myself.
3. You put me first.
Even though you have such poor time-management skills, you always find a way. A way to make me feel like I am your priority, no matter how tired and stressed-out you are. I couldn’t feel more appreciated for the smallest things I do, from the morning coffee I make every time I get the chance to some random poorly cooked dinner; from the clothes I put on to the way I wear my makeup.
4. You always give, without expecting anything in return.
You’re always willing to help anyone who will ask, as much as you can. Furthermore, you’re willing to help people without them asking.
5. You are simply stunning.
You are the definition of beauty in my eyes. Yes, you are a man and I should call you “handsome” instead. I know. But you are more than handsome. You have an amazing body, amazing eyes, and an amazing smile. The best part of this is that you are even more beautiful on the inside. You have a gorgeous soul and a gorgeous mind. I honestly think your presence makes the world a lot prettier.
6. You’re as sweet as they get.
When I get home from work in the morning and I find you curled up in a ball, sleeping, all I want to do is shower you with kisses and squeeze your eyes out with hugs. However, I just settle for watching you sleep until I fall asleep next to you. Seeing the faces you make in your sleep as I coddle you just makes my heart melt.
7. You’re willing to try anything for me.
Watching TV shows you don’t like, going to the seaside to dance on the beach, reading poetry and painting. You’ve done them all for me, even though you might not admit that. I know you hate those silly TV shows and you’re not that much of a fan of poetry, but you genuinely enjoy doing these things for me and that makes you so incredibly special in my eyes. And I would do the same for you, anytime.
8. We never get bored together.
Those lazy days when we don’t even want to leave the house are as fun as days spent in the city or snowboarding. We have impossible amounts of fun together, even if we’re just lying in bed and talking about random things.
There are many other reasons why you mean the world to me and I would love to go ahead and spread them all out here, but I’m lost for words when it comes to you.
I guess I just want you to know how amazing you are and I wish you could see yourself through my eyes, as that would give you a clearer view than my words could ever impart. No work of art could ever do justice to the way I feel about you, love. You are more than my lover. You are my best friend and my partner in crime.
I believe these things will never change.
