A Thank You Letter To Stephen King For Inspiring Me To Become A Writer

On September 21st, 1947 someone that has made a huge impact on my life me was born.

Yesterday, the master storyteller and one of the best author’s turned 71 years young.

Happy Birthday Stephen King!!!

Legends were born on September 21st, don’t believe me?

Well, it’s no coincidence that Stephen King and I share the same birthday.

Happy birthday to me too!

I was 11 years old when I started to read Stephen King books. I remember the day when one of my teachers gave me a book as a gift for getting good grades, the book was “Carrie”, which happens to be the very first book Stephen King wrote.

I read the entire book in just two days, I could relate to Carrie’s history, not that I have powers and can control things with my mind, but I could relate to Carrie because like her, I too was always the kid that never fit it, the one others bullied for being so weird, the kid that others made fun of for being a nerd. The kid that didn’t really have any friends because I was so different than everyone my age. Most of the kids at school would be playing in the playground and doing “kid stuff”, but you would always find me sitting alone somewhere with a Stephen King book by my side.

After Carrie, I then read Pet Sematary, Cujo, Salem’s Lot, The Green Mile, The Dead Zone, Children of the Corn, among other books. I was a total goner. My addiction to Stephen King was confirmed. The more I read, the more fascinated I became with his stories. One of my main goals is to read all his books, I have read a lot of them and about 30 more to go. That’s if I can ever catch up, it seems like whenever I finish one of his books, he has already written two more.

Since a young age reading and writing became my comfort zone. It was like an escape from reality.

I’ve read almost every book worth reading by the best authors.

I have read hundreds of books, but nothing has struck me quite like the work of Stephen King. When I pick up a King-novel, I always get into a trance and I don’t go back to normal until after I’ve finished the book. It’s a feeling hard to explain. And that’s why Stephen King is the best author ever. Stephen King has a unique way of relating to the reader.

I have been reading his books for 18 years now, and now as an adult I realize how much he has influenced me throughout my life.

My desire to become a writer was influenced by Stephen King. Since I was a kid I wanted to be a writer like him.

Stephen King’s books have inspired me, scared me, made me laugh and made me cry.

Above all, following him though these years, it has given me the confidence that I could be a successful writer too.

The biggest two lessons I have learned from Stephen King are:

If you want to become a great writer, you must read a lot and write a lot.

Dear Mr King:

I know it is very unlikely that you will read this, but I’d like to thank you for making such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the writer I am today without you.

Thank you for inspiring me to write.

Your passion is admirable. You put your heart and soul into every word, every chapter and every book you have ever written. Watching you do what you love and watching you make a difference in the lives of others has inspired me in so many ways. I look up to you. And I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better writer.

Thank you for all the unforgettable moments I experienced every time I read one of your books. I admire your mind and your ability to make the most extraordinary stories, and your knack for crafting unforgettable tales. Many of your stories have taken me through an emotional roller coaster. It’s unbelievable, the rush of emotions you have put me through.

Thank you for introducing me to the literary world.

Thank you for teaching me the importance of reading.

You are the one who got me into reading, to the point where I read a lot every day. If it wasn’t for you, I probably would not have any interest in reading anything at all.

Thank you for teaching me perseverance and to follow my passions.

You worked hard as a teacher and struggled to make a living before you became a well-known writer. You have persevered through more than most people go through in their entire lives; from your father leaving, being raised by a single mom, to the bad car accident, overcoming alcoholism and drug addiction, you have shown perseverance and determination, and you continued to write through it all.

Thank you for all the lessons.

You have taught me so many things and I want to thank you. Thank you for inspiring me in life. Thank you for your writing. Thank you for your stories. Thank you for your books.

Thank you inspiring to write my own book.

And most important a big thank you for inspiring me to become a writer.
