Lessons I’ve Learned From A Plant

Sometimes life
does not provide
the perfect conditions.
It’s hard to grow
when pain lingers deep in your roots
when you are buried
underneath sadness.
Just know that above
the weight of it all
there is sunlight to be found.

Despite the pain and sadness
keep trying
keep growing.
Tall.
Healthy.

Trust me,
You can break through the surface
and when you do,
you will taste freedom.

sorrow
will be beneath you.
Above you
only sunlight
