How To Break A Heart

By

Growing up, they always say to look out for the ones that will break your heart. They always say to look out for the ones with the gleaming eyes and the devilish smile and the magnetic personality.

They always say that your heart will undeniably be broken by someone disguised as your soul mate, your best friend, your person. But what they don’t tell you is that the worst heartbreak comes from within. Here’s how to break a heart.

You break a heart by trying to save someone else’s. You break your own heart when you’re too busy trying to piece someone else’s together. You break a heart, your own heart, when you put it second. Sweetie, its time to put your heart first. It’s time to heal yourself, to pick up the pieces and glue them back together and stop running back to the thing that shattered it in the first place.

It’s time to let go and stop saying that maybe this time will be the time. It’s time to move on and find someone that won’t break your heart. It’s time to tell yourself that you are worthy of having a complete and whole heart that doesn’t continually get crushed.

It’s time to stop putting yourself in situations that hurt you, its time to stop allowing people to walk all over you, because that’s how to break a heart.

Don’t you see that you are your hearts own worst enemy? Don’t you see that even though you hold the power to fix yourself, you also hold the power to hurt yourself? And that power is the scariest yet most beautiful power in the world. Its an unfortunate predicament that we face each day. Its so easy to blame other people for our hurt, to blame other people for our heartache but in reality we are the ones to blame. We just don’t know it. We don’t realize that we all hold the knowledge of how to break a heart, and every day that we tear ourselves down, we break our hearts a little bit more.

You are worthy of having a whole heart. You are worthy and capable of bringing the sunshine out from behind the clouds. Pick up those pieces, put your sunglasses on and stop breaking your heart.

Stop lying to yourself, stop cheating yourself, stop insulting yourself, stop running away and instead run towards the sun’s rays that are peeking out. Show the world that you don’t need any approval but your own, because you’re done breaking hearts. Ignore what won’t make you happy and focus on what helps you grow.

Gain control of your heart, and I promise it will stop breaking. Gain control of your heart and it won’t matter how beautiful his eyes are or how captivating his smile is. All that will matter is the love that radiates from within, the most beautiful love of all.
