One Day, You’ll Get Over The Person Who Broke Your Heart

One day, you will get over the person who broke your heart.

I know it seems as if such a thing couldn’t possibly be true, but I hope you believe me when I say that you will get through this. You will learn how to laugh again. You will learn how to breathe without feeling like a tiny elephant is sitting upon your chest. You will learn how to navigate your life without that other person in it.

I don’t know why or how they broke your heart. I don’t know how many pieces there are to put back together, how many wounds there are to heal, how many lessons of unlearning you have to do, but I do know that one day, you will feel as if you are reborn.

One day, you will have transformed into something new.

You might believe a part of you has died on this journey. You might feel that your faith has been shattered; your belief in goodness might fade away as if it was a childhood memory. You might feel as if love is the stuff of fairy tales and that you are not privy to hold such honey within your hands, that you must sit with the pain of what was forever.

But the truth of it all is that you don’t.

You don’t have to sit with the brokenness forever. You don’t have to carry the betrayal with you for the rest of your days. You don’t have to close yourself off from a love that is real, and healthy, and beautiful, and true.

For love is still meant for you.

And like the phoenix, you will rise from the ashes and the flames and the dust of what once was and burn brightly into something more beautiful than you had ever imagined.

One day, you will get over the person who broke your heart.

Yes, even you.

I hate styling my hair.
