Your Time Is A Precious Gift

By

Your time is the most precious commodity you will ever have, and it’s okay to be frugal with it. It’s okay to balance it, as you would your finances. It’s okay to spend it in a way that fuels your body, mind, and soul.

It’s okay to say no to food that does not bless your body. If you’ve decided not to drink alcohol anymore, do not let others shame you into doing it. If you want to have your red wine, you can do that, too. It’s about what fuels you, and what makes you feel like the best possible version of yourself. It’s okay to give up dairy, grains, or gluten — don’t let your family members or strangers make you feel bad about it. Ignore them if they roll their eyes about your dietary and nutritional lifestyle choices — it’s your body, not theirs. They don’t have to eat or live the way you do.

It’s okay to say no to a social engagement, even if you don’t have somewhere else to be. It’s okay that you’re saying no to sit on your couch and just… be. Sometimes it’s a beautiful thing to be at celebrations and parties and surrounded by the people that we love. And sometimes, you just need a second alone.

That’s okay, too.

It’s okay to say no to new projects that do not serve your career, your job, or your passions any purpose. It’s also okay to say no if there’s just too much on your plate and you cannot commit to another thing.

What’s the point in having a million projects and commitments if you cannot do them well and with conviction?

It’s okay to say no to media and news that sucks the life out of your soul. You get to choose what you consume. I’m not telling you to be an ostrich, but you don’t always have to be consuming news and media 24/7, especially if your consumption depletes your energy. You get to dictate how often you consume these things — remember to balance.

It’s okay to say no to the people who do not reciprocate the energy that you give to them. Life is short — of this, we are all certain. So if you’re tired of giving time and energy to relationships that are not reciprocal, you can stop. You can stop right now. Those who love you and want to be in your life will find a way to show up for you, and you will find a way to show up for them. The manner in which you show up might change, but the need to serve your people will remain steadfast with those you call your own.

Your time is precious, and how you spend it matters.

Being selective with how you spend your time and energy isn’t a fatal flaw — it just means that you’re paying close attention to life’s most precious gift.

And that’s okay.
