When Your Heart Feels Unmendable, Read This

By

Your heart hurts.

No, scratch that, your heart aches. It’s in pain. It has no more blood to bleed. It has no more pumps to give. It’s cracked, and broken, and bruised.

Those who love you will tell you that time will heal all things.

Those who love you will tell you that this too shall pass.

Those who love you will tell you that one day it won’t hurt so bad.

And all you can think is, no. You’re wrong. You don’t get it, and you don’t understand. My heart is broken beyond repair. It cannot be fixed. It is unmendable, and I just have to live like this for the rest of my life.

It’s not true.

That’s a lie you told yourself to get through the day. That’s a lie you told yourself to get out of bed in the morning. That’s a lie you told yourself so that you would keep one foot in front of the other so that you would keep breathing all day long so that you would keep going.

That’s a lie.

You are not unmendable.

Your heart is not unmendable.

Your heart is extraordinary. It is magnificent. It is beautiful. It is built of greatness, and goodness, and all of the best things in this universe. It’s bits of stardust, and dreams, and magic. It is one of the most glorious things in this world – and it is capable of glorious things, too.

As much as it is capable of loving and giving, it is also capable of healing.

I know it can seem like that’s a fantasy, or a childlike dream, or the ending of your favorite romantic comedy that is just too out of touch with reality.

But it’s not.

I promise you that it’s not.

I know the wounds feel beyond repair. I know the hurt sinks deep into the tissue of your heart, into the bones of your being. I know it seems like it’s impossible to make something whole out of the pieces of what was. I know it seems like your heart cannot mend.

But it will.

I promise you that it will.

It will mend because love is stronger than heartache. It will mend because even though you’ve been through hell and back, even though your heart has been crushed into a billion pieces – you still are worthy and deserving of love that fills you with all the good things this life has to offer.

You are still worthy and deserving of love.

Heartache doesn’t change that. Heartbreak doesn’t change that, either.

That kind of love is out there and waiting for you, and you just haven’t found it yet.

But first, let the love that’s within you mend your own heart.

I know it seems crazy, but it’s true. There is still love within you – it’s the love of self. And once. you let yourself tap into that, it will fuse your pain back together. It won’t be what was, but it will be something new.

And that will be beautiful.
