It’s Okay To Leave What’s Heavy Behind

By

I hope you know that it’s ok to leave what’s heavy behind.

The anchors that weigh you, the baggage that you carry with you, the weights that fasten themselves to your heart – you don’t have to hold them with you. You’re allowed to put them down. It’s ok to leave them behind.

I hope you know that it’s ok to leave what’s heavy behind and that just because you don’t carry your heaviness with you doesn’t mean that it didn’t happen. It happened. You know it happened. Maybe others know happened, too. But just because it happened, doesn’t mean that you have to hold it forever. Just because it broke you down doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to make something new. It’s ok to set the heaviness down. It’s ok to put it to rest. You can still talk about it, you can still acknowledge it, – but you don’t have to let it pull you down under the water.

Set it down so you can stay afloat.

I hope you know that it’s ok to leave what’s heavy behind because it’s ok to give yourself the grace to move forward, and that forgiveness can be both a powerful and beautiful thing.

I hope you know it’s ok for you to build from the pieces. That you can paint a new masterpiece from the points of your scars, that you can write a new song from the notes of your cries.

I hope you know that it’s ok to leave what’s heavy behind because it just is. There’s no rulebook that says you have to hold onto the weight of what was for forever. There is no law that says you have to keep carrying the heaviness with you as you live.

You’re not breaking a promise if you set it down – you’re learning how to live again.

It’s ok to look forward.
