To Every Girl Who Has Lost Herself During A Breakup

There are always two sides to every story and the truth tends to lie somewhere in the middle. Relationships are not easy and as the saying goes, you enter into a relationship knowing one (or more) of these four truths is inevitable:

1. You get hurt.
2. You hurt someone.
3. You settle.
4. You find happily ever after with the love of your life.

Everyone strives for #4 or else that relationship wouldn’t have existed. But unfortunately, not every relationship achieves the greatest of #4 and THAT IS OK.

Parents, friends and other mentors have often told me in my life: you will never be able to love someone for the both of you. When that begins to happen, it’s not meant to be and you should walk away with your head held high. Why? Because when that real love comes along and you both share that unconditional love, nothing will stand in its way. Anything else would be settling.

If you think you fell in love with a toxic man, you’re wrong. You stayed in a relationship where you tried to love him enough for the both of you; therefore, formulated this image of a toxic man.

Indeed in all sadness, you created the toxicity by trying to make a relationship work that was doomed for failure- trying to love enough for the both of you. It’s OK to have a huge heart but know when to walk away. You deserve a man who will love you unconditionally. Understand that anything less than that is not true love.

You can’t force love. You can’t predetermine fate. What’s meant to be will find it’s way but along the way, you will hit bumps and be bruised from certain experiences. Nonetheless, you will find what’s not meant and within that contains endless beauty because to be broken doesn’t mean to be defeated. God breaks us to bless us.

Bob Goff once said, “It has always seemed to me that broken things, just like broken people, get used more; it’s probably because God has more pieces to work with.” God blesses our broken experiences and our broken life with His grace and love. God was leading us down a path to find him, from being broken and lost to being whole and found.
