It’s Time To Stop Being Shocked By Trump And Get Off Our Asses To Beat Him

By

Earlier this week, after president Trump sent Attorney General Jeff Sessions out in front of the media to deliver the wildly unpopular news that his administration was ending the Deferred Action for Child Arrivals (or DACA) program, the press and both professional and amateur pundits reacted in a fashion that has become all too familiar. Shock and outrage were the order of the day. Nobody could believe that Trump would be so cruel as to extend his “no toleration for immigration” policies to innocent children, whose only crime was being brought to this country by their parents. It was widely claimed that this was merely a shout out to the white supremacist elements among his followers. Accusations flew that the only reason Trump was doing this was as part of a racist attempt to erase Barack Obama from the history books. One by one, ordinary people and Washington Beltway insiders and famous celebrities alike started unleashing angry posts, on Facebook and Twitter, that it just wasn’t possible that the President of the United States could do something so downright awful and mean.

Well, I’m here to tell you that it’s time to stop being shocked by every disgusting, horrible and undignified thing that Trump does and get off our lazy, “Mueller is coming to save us” butts to defeat him.

Sure, every nasty thing that has been said about this DACA debacle is right on the money. It’s cruel and unusual and does absolutely nothing to help any American. Not one single job will be created by deporting these children. All that will be accomplished is that families will be broken and people’s lives will be destroyed. It is a singularly hateful move by a singularly hateful president. It should not, however, come as either a shock or a surprise. Donald Trump has shown us, over and over and over again, exactly what sort of person he is. Haven’t we all seen plenty at this point to know that, in any given situation, he will make the most despicable choice, the one that damages the lives of the most people? Ban patriotic, dedicated, hard working Transgender Americans from serving in the military? Bingo! Pardon a racist, redneck sheriff who bragged about running a concentration camp for immigrants in the U.S.? Done! He’s going to pander to Nazi’s and racists and the dregs of our society and, what’s more, he is going to enjoy every minute of it.

There is nothing he or his deplorable followers love more than feasting on hot, liberal tears.

We need to stop whining and crying about this fat, ridiculously coifed, tiny handed, low rent James Bond villain and get off our sofas, click off our television sets and do something about it. Now don’t get me wrong, Robert Mueller is a supremely intelligent and competent man, and I am certain he is doing a bang up job investigating Trump’s conspiracy with the Russian government to steal the 2016 election from Hillary Clinton. Now that he has teamed up with NY state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, it’s entirely possible that we will see some amazingly quick and decisive activity. Mueller may very well be coming to save us. But what if it doesn’t happen? What then? What if Mueller is fired or heavily compromised Congressional scumbags like Devin Nunes or Trey Gowdy are able to discredit Mueller or cast doubt on the original dossier compiled by ex-British agent, Christopher Steele, that began this whole Trump/Russia investigation in the first place?

What I am saying is that we can’t just assume that this problem is going to be taken care of for us. We cannot assume anything. We can’t afford to wait for Vladimir Putin and the Russians to interfere in the 2018 elections, or the ones in 2020.

We have got to solve this problem ourselves.

And the way we do that is by getting out of our comfortable houses and out into the streets, putting down our tablets and iPhones and picking up protest signs, and demanding that this treasonous travesty come to a goddamn end. We were attacked by a hostile foreign power with the intent of weakening our democracy, destroying faith in the electoral process and causing chaos in our country, yet we behave as if each new salvo in this ongoing assault is some kind of astonishing incredulity. Let me clue you in on exactly what is going to happen from here on in. In any given situation, Donald Trump is going to choose to do the most reprehensible possible thing. He is going to destroy our nation if we let him. He may very well be destined to face harsh music for his decision to sell America’s sovereignty to a foreign enemy but, believe me, he will surely try to take the rest of us down with him.

We are on our own in this disaster. We can’t wait for anyone else to win this fight for us.

We need to get up off our cushy, privileged, pampered, too many double Big Mac with extra Special Sauce asses and solve this problem for ourselves.

And if we don’t, we could very well lose it all.
