The Ten Worst Things About Being Mormon

1. You have no idea what people are talking about when they discuss the taste of wine, coffee or tea.

2. You spend an average of 12 hours/week (minimum) involved in Church activities.

3. Dealing with the “you’re a freak” look when people find out you are Mormon.

4. People automatically assuming you have more than one wife.

5. Not being able to go to that really good movie because it is rated “R”.

6. Paying ten percent of your wage when you have bills to pay.

7. Hearing about a “Mormon guy I know” who doesn’t follow the rules.

8. Not having sex before marriage even though you REALLY want to.

9. Having people in Mormon congregation that believe conditions such as depression, weight loss, and ulcers are “signs” that you are not spiritual enough and prayer/scripture reading will cure you.

10. Not being able to do anything on Sunday, like yard work, water activities, or anything that involves spending money.

The Ten Best Things About Being Mormon

1.The family is the most important thing.

2. Marriage is forever (and to ONE wife).

3. Not being affected by fads or trends. I will not regret getting that tattoo/piercing/parachute pants. (Actually, I did own a pair of parachute pants.)

4. I know why I am here, where I came from and where I am going. I have purpose in my life.

5. There are some cool Mormon celebrities, such as Aaron Eckhart, Katherine Heigl, David Archuleta, and Julianne Hough.

6.Swearing is not cool. Ever.

7. Service to others is taught and nothing feels better than when you do something nice for someone else.

8. Church is the same wherever you go in the world. Same set-up, same ideals/standards, same organization. Mormons are basically the McDonalds of Religion — there is comfort in familiarity.

9. Non-Paid Clergy. Everyone gets to serve within the church and the leader of the congregation (Bishop) could be you or your neighbor down the street. Leadership / positions change so you can learn from different people and their perspectives.

10. It’s peaceful. When you have direction, purpose and guidance, it makes navigating this world a little bit more peaceful and enjoyable.
