This Is Why You Should Thank God For The Heartbreak

By

We’ve all had our hearts broken. And nothing broken is ever appealing.

I don’t know what left you broken. I don’t know what crushed you that you had to desperately click on this random article on the internet to find comfort to your affliction. I don’t know how many tears roll down your face every night just to ease the hurt. I may not know anything about your pain, but I’m here to tell you that Jesus does. And He sees right through you.

You don’t have to conceal the pain anymore. You don’t have to act brave and unfazed when all you want to do is curl up under your blanket and cry. You don’t have to pretend you’re not seeing bits of them in every corner — on the side of the road where you used to walk alongside them or even on the chair next to you where they used to sit within your reach. You don’t have to tell everyone you’re doing fine when it’s 3 a.m. and you’re struggling to get them out of your head.

I don’t know how things ended up, so I’m not here to tell you what you deserve and what you don’t. But all I know is that people that hurt too much, loved too much. And I want to acknowledge you for your heart that gave and gave without asking to be fueled back until it broke down.

It’s not your fault that things went downhill, so I hope you stop digging a pit-hole of what if’s in your mind, because to be brutally honest, no amount of love will keep someone if they’re only meant to play significantly until chapter 19 in your story. And that’s okay.

Sometimes we need to understand that releasing our grip doesn’t mean giving up. And that doesn’t mean we loved any less; or that we didn’t give it a worthy fight. If there’s anything we need to engrave in our minds, it’s that everything we lose is not bound to be a loss.

We will always end up being defeated in battles that are not meant to be ours, and that doesn’t mean we failed. Sometimes all it takes is surrender, letting go of what you used to hold so dear, so you can pick up that white flag and see what’s been keeping your hands heavy and occupied all this time.

It may sound scary to drop something so valuable, but I’m here to tell you that God will never leave you empty handed. And it’s not about replacing them with someone better because healing doesn’t come from another person.

Expecting someone to restore you is like placing a BandAid over incision cuts: It can cover the wound, but not enough to patch the ends back together.

You see, everyone that crosses our path is handpicked by God. He has already scheduled each of our steps. He knows which one will matter a little more than the rest and which one will play a part in our narrative longer than others.

I know it’s hard to find sense in the midst of pain when all you did was love and give, but we need to understand that God is never against us. God doesn’t intend for us to suffer, but sometimes He allows the hurt.

Sometimes He permits people to find their way to us and build a connection just to leave so an important lesson can stay like an imprint in our hearts.

You may be feeling abandoned, cheated on, inadequate, or even too much. But darling, you are everything but that.

Your heartbreak is not about your inability to keep someone. In fact, you are pretty amazing at loving, you just need the right person to see that.

So if you’re in a season of feeling stuck in a desert, or feeling like you’re surrounded by thorns instead of rose petals, cheer up, cleanse your heart of bitterness, and thank God for the heartache. Because this is the first step to your breakthrough.

Take your time to heal, and give everything over to Jesus. Because if He can calm the storm with just the sound of His voice and turn dark clouds into rainbows, what makes you think He is not capable of doing it with you?

If anything, I hope today marks the day you choose to trust God with your heart and declare this: “God will turn everything around in my favor, and I will see sunshine once again.”
