2020 Will Be Your Year

By

As we are nearing the end of yet another year, I think its suitable to reflect on this past year. To look back at all that we’ve accomplished, at all that we’ve failed at. To all that we’ve lost, what we’ve gained. Life never stops moving, it doesn’t wait for anyone, and it isn’t always fair. But then again, you know that already.

For some, this past year has been nothing short of exceptional. For others, however, myself included, life hasn’t necessarily been too kind at times. Many of us have loved and lost.

Some of us have graduated from college, given birth, witnessed death. Some may have lost themselves traveling the world, others may have found themselves in the mists of despair.

But no matter what may have happened to you, good or bad, it is time to move forward. This is a wakeup call. A reminder that this train is moving and I need you to get on board.

I need you to stop looking back because we aren’t going back. 2020 will be your year. It will be my year. It’s going to be our year.

It will be the beginning of a new year, a new decade, a new chapter. Use it wisely. Start fresh. Let go of all the pain and disappointment that this year has caused you.

Let go of the failures, the regrets, the hatred. There is no room for that in 2020.

Let go of the judgment, the resentment, the toxic coping mechanisms. Part ways with bad habits and unhealthy relationships. In 2020 I want you to let go and start fresh. Move on from the heartbreak, move on from the grief.

Maybe you’ve lost someone you dearly loved, and perhaps you just can’t shake that off. The loss is so severe, you don’t think you can overcome it. But the truth of the matter is that yes you can.

There’s a light at the end of the tunnel. And that light starts with a new year. Hit the reset button.

Start new. Find your passion. Make new friends. 2020 is all about new beginnings. But you can’t receive without first releasing. It’s time to tie up all the loose endings that you may have been carrying with you.

All that baggage you’ve been dealing with. Hasn’t it been difficult carrying all that hurt with you all year long?

I’m here to tell you that it’s okay. It’s okay to let go of all that. It’s okay to let go of the regrets. It’s okay to let go of the dreams you shared with that special person.

You thought life would be completely different from what it is today. You lost some things that you thought were irreplaceable. Maybe it was a relationship and it didn’t work out. Perhaps it was a job that you lost. A semester in school you failed.

It happens. We all fall down in life. But it’s time to get back up again, and leave behind, what is meant to stay in the past.

2020 is approaching and we can’t step into the new year with our heads over our shoulder. We can’t begin the new year with our same old attitude.

The new year is the beginning of a new life. It’s the start of the rest of your life. Make it count.

So let go of past failures, past disappointments, past heartbreaks, past rejections. Let go of the past.

It’s time to set your old life on fire, and let the light guide you into your new life. Into 2020.

I pray that 2020 will be a year full of great opportunities. Take chances, move across the country, move to a different country. Leave that dead-end job. Learn another language, go back to school, start that business that you’ve been thinking about. Fall in love, with yourself and with someone else.

Get out of that toxic relationship. Go get married. Have kids, or you know what? Don’t! 2020 is about you! What makes you happy? No matter what it is, you find it and you never let that go. No matter what anyone tells you. And then, you nurture that.

Do you want to be a writer? Then write. Do you want to be a model? Be a model. Be a photographer, journalist, entrepreneur, accountant, doctor, nurse, lawyer, fitness trainer. Be who you say you want to be.

2020 will be a turning point in your life. Big changes, small changes. Things will be scary at times. But guess what? That’s what it’s supposed to feel like.

If it doesn’t scare the hell out of you, you’re not doing it right. You’ll either spend your entire life making someone else’s dream come true, or you’ll take the chance and pursue yours.

This is your journey and you are the captain. It’s time to rise, this time higher than you could ever imagine. I pray that 2020 will be the year you’ll decide to fly. Pursue your dreams and don’t look back. Follow your dreams, no matter how small.

I pray that 2020 will be your year.
