7 Things That Happen When You Date A Girl With Strict Parents

By

Well, I had the “great” privilege to date somebody whose parents keep an eye on her closer than Batman did on The Joker in The Dark Knight. It’s not really a walk in the park, but at the end of the day, it’s all the love that matters.

1. You have to plan your date weeks (or even months) ahead.

There’s this gut-wrenching feeling whenever you try to ask her out. You know at the back of your mind that, more often that not, she’ll say no right off the bat. It’s not because she doesn’t want to (mind you, she does), it’s just that her parents won’t allow her to. But when she does say Yes, it’s like the whole gate of heaven opened up and a choir of angels lifted you up and brought you to paradise. But the date doesn’t come overnight. When you make reservations with her, they’re usually weeks in advance, all because it’ll take her a lot of courage to ask her parents for permission.

2. After a date, you have to make sure you take her home way before her curfew.

If she’s supposed to be home by 8:30 pm, then by all means necessary, take her home by 8:00 pm! Because if it’s her curfew and she’s nowhere to be found, her Dad’s already out on the front porch with a wrench, ready to smash your cranium off. Of course, that’s just a visual representation of how mad her Dad will be, but you get the picture.

3. When she introduces you to her Dad, please know it took her infinite hours of preparation.

She’s not even allowed to bring some of her guy bestfriends from school! So when she decides to let you meet her old man, she’s sure of you. And she’s certain that her Dad will not gut you right where you stand. She probably spent countless days preparing for that moment, and of course constant prayer, hoping you won’t get all jittery in front of her Pops. And after that first encounter, she’ll feel like the whole world will be taken off her shoulders. She’ll be glad that you and her Dad are finally acquainted, and you’re still standing on your feet because he didn’t turn you into mincemeat.

4. She’ll have very high expectations of you.

She’s been exposed to a life of security and guidance, so naturally, she’ll expect you to behave like a true gentleman too. She’ll expect you to open doors for her, pull out chairs, and ring the doorbell instead of texting her that you’re outside. She’ll want you to make her feel secure and well taken care of.

5. She has a strict sleeping schedule.

If it’s 12 midnight, she needs to be snoring by 12:01 am. So if you have anything to say to her, say it quick. Or suffer the consequences of waiting until the morning for her reply.

6. You have to have a detailed itinerary for your dates.

Remember number 1? Because of the long intervals in between dates, you’ll have plenty of time to plan them out. Your list should look more complicated than the Pentose Phosphate Pathway. Here’s a sample itinerary:

7:30 pm – Drive to her house
7:45 pm – Ring the doorbell, wait for her outside
7:50 pm – Open the car door, let her in
8:10 pm – Arrive at her dinner place
8:13 pm – Finish ordering, talk about how beautiful she is
8:30 pm – Eat dinner, have some pictures taken too
9:00 pm – Tip the waiter and start driving her home
9:30 pm – Walk her to her door and drop her off, 30 minutes before her curfew! Boo yeah!

Of course that doesn’t always translate into success, as all plans go. But at least you put a little bit of effort into having a smooth date, and she’ll love you for it.

7. Remember your manners when you’re at their house.

“Good evening Mr. and Mrs. Whatever-Her-Family-Name-Is!” Complete with a kiss or a firm handshake. One wrong move and you’ll be out. Kidding. But seriously, try not to mess up, bro.

Actually there are a lot more things associated with dating a girl with strict parents but these are at the top of the list. It’s never easy, sacrifices have to be made daily, but you know what they say, the hardest girls are usually the keepers.
