For Every Woman Struggling With Self-Doubt

By

You are in a place of insecurity, of pain, of self-hatred. Perhaps from a recent breakup or long-standing abusive relationship. Perhaps because of a monumental change or heart-aching experience in your life. Perhaps because you have lost your sense of self in the wake of a personal disaster. Or perhaps you no longer feel like yourself in ways that you simply cannot explain.

Wherever you are, please know that you are not alone.

Sadly, hundreds, even thousands of women have stepped in your broken shoes, have scuffed their worn soles down this tired path.

So many women have had these moments of self-doubt, moments when we were unsure of our next steps or even of who we were. And I know this hurts, but you will be okay.

This is a temporary detour on the roadmap of your life.

Close your eyes. Remember a time when you were happier, when your steps felt like, when your soul was free and you smiled without thinking. Hold onto that moment and bring it back to your memory when you are feeling down. See, you were a happy woman once. Maybe a long time ago, but she was there. She was fearless. She was confident.

You need to go back to her.

Take all your anxieties and set them free. Whatever you are worrying about, whatever is clouding your mind, whatever you are terrified to do or say, let it go. Release your tight grip on what you cannot control. Take a deep breath and tell yourself that you are stronger than you think.

Because you are.

Fill yourself with positive words. You are beautiful. You are strong. You are smart. You are capable. You are confident. You can accomplish whatever you believe in. You are bigger than this. You will get through it. You will succeed. You are not what they say you are.

Repeat this over and over until you start to believe it. These words are truth, you know. Somewhere along the way you just forgot.

Give yourself distance from those that only bring you down. Detach yourself from broken relationships and turn your face to the sun, to the Bible, to the laughter of good friends, to the arms of family members, to the passions and hobbies that bring light to your soul.

Stop looking in the mirror and finding faults, but find reasons to praise. Turn the corners of your mouth into a smile. Watch your eyes sparkle when you laugh. See yourself not as someone who has failed, but someone who has hit a road block, and is now turning around and taking another path.

Self-doubt is something that will creep up on you when you least expect it. It’s the devil’s way of trying to pull us down, it’s our fears and worries manifested into ugly thoughts that spin around our heads.

But you don’t have to listen to that negativity.

You don’t need to spend your life questioning who you are, who you’ve been, and who you will become.

You are bigger than every fear and stronger than any doubt.

Tell yourself this, and believe it.
