In This Huge Moment Of Change In Your Life, Know This

I once read a quote that said the ‘only constant in life is change,’ and for a while I pondered on what that meant. Consistent change is the only thing we can rely on in this life—which is essentially saying that no matter what we try to lay out or plan, we will continue to be faced with moments of change.

It’s true, isn’t it?

That our lives do this continual loop from what we know to what we don’t, from having the answers to being totally in the dark, from feeling consistent and steady to being suddenly throw into confusion once again.

It’s frustrating, but it’s also amazing. Amazing because we get so many little chances to start over, to pick up the pieces, and begin again.

So here you are in a huge moment of change—feeling dizzy, spun around, maybe even a little lost. Maybe it’s post-graduation, or post-breakup. Maybe you’re reeling from the death of a loved one, or trying to find what feels comfortable in a completely new living space. Maybe you’re learning who you are again, in the wake of a tragedy, or maybe you’re willingly, happily just starting over.

No matter where you are, or what transition you are facing, know this—change is a chance for rebirth.

Every moment of doubt, of worry, of helplessness is an opportunity to begin again, to begin anew.

Change is the one thing we can rely on, the one thing, without a doubt, that we know we’ll face. So then the real journey is grabbing ahold of these crazy moments and hanging on for the ride.

So often we look at change as negative, as something to be nervous about, maybe even something to fear. We hold back, we become timid, and instead of jumping into these moments and trying to find ourselves, we feel like starting over is a bad thing. But it’s not.

It’s an opportunity to create your own destiny.

Change is scary. Change is weird. Change is foreign. And every ounce of our beings will reject it, because it’s unknown. But in the unknown lies all the great answers, all the new opportunities, and all the exciting ways you can become who you were truly meant to be.

So stop trying to figure out the destination of your tomorrows and live in your todays.

Stop trying to resist the one thing that will eventually bring your life happiness. Stop keeping your life from becoming new.

You are in a time of change, a time of transition, and this is scary. But trust that even in your fear, you are growing. You are becoming. And there is nothing to fear. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
