You’re More Toxic To Me Than Cigarettes

By

So…

There is this thing we’ve been doing lately
Where you roll your cigarette and then hand it to me
To light it up and start it up for you.

And then you come sit next to me,
Close on purpose, right next to me, close to my skin, just skin to skin,
So much that I can feel you breathe.

And then we watch an umpteenth horror movie
And there you tease and fake your fear and grab my hand,
For a second… we’re more than friends.

Then you hand back your cigarette to me
Filter wet, from your lips to my lips
To light it up again for you. It smokes me too!

And I try to ignore this aspect, this side effect
That it’s the closer to your lips that I will ever get!
That’s when she sends you a text.

But you cut it short and say you’ll teach me how to roll
But really, really honey, right now, the only thing I wanna learn
Is how to stop loving you, is how to stop wanting you…!

So…

There is this thing we’ve been doing lately
Where you crawl under my skin, where I give in,
Where cigarettes are benefits…

There is this thing you’ve been doing lately…
Your cigarettes
Are killing me. [tc-mark[
