It’s Time To Embrace Your Vulnerability So You Can Heal

“Vulnerability is the core, the heart, the center, of meaningful human experience.” – Brené Brown

We all fear.

We fear not being seen for who we are. We fear being seen for who we are. We fear making mistakes and looking like fools. We fear making the wrong choices and ending up in the wrong places. We fear not being loved or getting the attention we so deeply want, desire and crave.

Vulnerability is the last thing we want to show in ourselves, but it’s the first thing we look for in others. Vulnerability connects us. It is what makes us human.

Most of us have been taught to hide our vulnerability. To tuck is away somewhere where no one can see it. We’ve been taught that vulnerability is a weakness, a flaw that must be destroyed.

By not allowing ourselves to be vulnerable we might block shame, pain and disappointment. But so also growth, pleasure and love. If we don’t allow ourselves to be vulnerable, we don’t allow ourselves to experience life fully.

We did not come here to dip our toes in the fountain of life and kind of experience it. We came here to go all in. To feel stuff, to take risks and to tell the truth, even when it’s not comfortable. We came to stumble, fall and get back up again. Only this time stronger.

So have the courage to be imperfect. Allow the deepest and most fragile parts of yourself to be seen. Allow your heart to expand to the fullest and then cracked right open. Allow others to see you without trying to hide, fix or change anything.

Shed light on your vulnerability and something beautiful will happen.

Love will be born. Courage will be born. Strength will be born.
